Chages of Estrogen Receptor Levels and Histology in the Regenerated Rat Liver

Abstract
The effect of estrogen of the liver is directly exerted by the presence of its hormone receptor for the endocrine manipulation.
Estrogen receptors in the cytosol of hepatocytes have been noticeable to define a possible correlation of estrogen with the development of the hepatiec disorders.
The purpose of this study is to identify the estrogen receptor in the liver as a non target organ and to find out the role of estrogen receptor on the regenerting liver by measuring the changes of estrogen receptor level and the gross and
microscopic
findings of regenerated liver betwen the day of hepatectomy and the posthepatectomy 14th day in rats.
@ES The experimental results were as follows;
@EN 1) Microscopic findings on the regenerated liver showed the enlarged hepatocytes with pleomorphic large nucleus.
2) 10 out of 11 cases were positive of estrogen receptor but no case has more than 10 fmol/mg cytosol protein of progesterone receptor.
3) Estrogen receptor value was significantly decreased in the regenerated liver (19.4¡¾11.0 fmol/mg) compared to the levels in the normal liver (30.4¡¾17.2 fmol/mg) (P<0.05).
We confirmed that extrogen receptor is present in hepatocyte and the levels of estrogen receptor was decreased in the regenerated liver compared to the levels in the normal liver.
